From 23rd till 28th of October 2009 a site visit to the ISM University of Management and Economics in Kanuas, Lithuania, was held. Lithuania is the largest of the Baltic States, one of the fastest growing economies in the region, and an active member of the EU and NATO. ISM University of Management and Economics was established in 1999 by Norwegian School of Management BI and the Innovation Norway. First private university in Lithuania counts more than 1770 students. 4 entrepreneurial companies were visited: “Karpyne”, Mars, Entrepreneurial center “Technopolis Science and Technologies Park” and “Baldai Jums”. The director of “Karpyne” Kristina Bartkute welcomed Tempus Project site visit participants ant the homestead “Karpyne”. She presented the history of this enterprise during the tour outside and inside the homestead. Development of country tourism in Lithuania has had a strong support from the government as well as the EU funds. Mars Lietuva, UAB is the Lithuanian unit of Mars, Incorporated – one of the world’s largest family owned companies. The brands we are proud to produce locally include: PEDIGREE®, WHISKAS®, KITEKAT®, SHEBA® and CESAR®. The visit at “MARS Lietuva” consisted of two parts – presentation of the company and tour around its premises. Technopolis is being created under the concept of Science and Technologies Parks as a production complex of knowledge-based business enterprises and research, providing a chance of entering the World market for innovative medium and small enterprises of Kaunas. Most of companies in Technopolis Science and Technologies Park are from IT sector, i.e. "MICROSOFT" INOVACIJŲ CENTRAS, JSC “TELTONIKA”, JSC “AGMIS”, JSC "INTERNET STUDIO", JSC "GIGACOR". "Baldai Jums", is a modern heir of lasting furniture production in Jonava. Tempus Project team visited different manufactories, got acquaintance to full manufacturing cycle and finished the visit of “Baldai Jums” in the exposition of production hall.
