University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (UNSA) was officially founded in 1965. It consists of eight teaching and research institutes which cover all disciplines. UNSA receives 27.000 students (including 17% foreign students) and offers more then 200 programmes at all study levels. University has about 1.247 teachers-researchers and 686 administrative and technical staff. It also includes 60 state accredited research laboratories (50% are joint units of research in partnership with the major organizations of research such as CNRS, INSERM, INRA, CRA, IRD, OCA), agrobiotech platform, a house of Human sciences. Over the last decade the University of Nice has participated as “grant holder” and “project partner” in about 40 Tempus projects in the Tacis, Cards, and Meda regions. It has a valuable experience in development of distance learning and e-learning service. It also participates in several regional, national and international e-learning projects. UNSA is a memebr of PEGASUS, which aim is to propose an interactive distance training programme based on Internet learning, and CANEGE consortium.
